Temp Design

I'm working on a new design for the site, temporarily using this one. There are a lot of cool and free designs out there that just need a little tweaking to make them exude MSPmedia style.

Streamlining My Blogs, Bookstore Stuff

Today I'm working on updating all my blogs to have a consistent look & feel. It's kind of tedious but I think will help my online presence. Also working on the many things I need to do for Texture Bookstore.

Always Check Your Design in Various Browsers

You would think I should know this by now, my word. I just checked my various sites and blogs in Internet Explorer(IE) and the design was all off. I'm using a very simple CSS design I got from Free Css Templates for my websites and I just tweaked the Sand Dollar template in Blogger for my blogs. Even still despite the simplicity of both I managed to disrupt the coding enough so they looked messed up in IE. I use Mozilla and sometimes Netscape on my PC and Safari on my husband's Mac so it didn't occur to me this site/blog update around to check them on IE...even though that's common sense as a ton of people still use IE. I think even the new version of it does not compare to Mozilla but that's just me.

So today I am at the library because I was having a hard time getting started on work at home. For some reason I can never upload pics to my Flickr stream using Mozilla at the library, just IE. After I did that I decided to check my sites/blogs, and was aghast. Took me over an hour to fix. The moral of the story: always check your design in different browsers, because they don't always render the code the same. Especially IE.

Make Your Own Favicon

I have a few sites I use to make my favicons for all my various sites and online publishing projects. If you are new to favicons, look at the address display for this site in your browser. See the little picture? That's a favicon. Check out the one for my blog: http://www. mspmedia.net/blog.html. That's a tiny pic of me. How did I make a favicon? The one for this site is from a scan of a drawing one of my sons did. The one for my personal blog I made from the photo of me used in the banner for MSPmedia.net. I cropped it and re-sized it to 32px, then uploaded it to a favicon generator site. This one is my favorite:
http://www.favicon.co.uk/

This saves the image file as .ico as opposed to .jpg or .gif. Your favicon has to be in .ico form or it will not work. Then upload it to the root directory of your domain or subdomain. For more information on how to link it, go here. More interesting information can be found about favicons on Wikipedia.

Music

Mama Songs CD

I am a writer, not a singer or musician, but this is a project that is very close to my heart because it sprung out of love for my children. Mama Songs is a collection of songs I wrote and sang to my children when they were small. I think your kids will like them too.
