Old Writing Chair, New Writing Chair

Trula's New Chair September 2007

It was all superstition. I refused to get a new chair for nearly a decade because I was afraid it would make me have writer's block or something if I did. The chair was busted; the back long broken off, stuffing coming out, just tore up. I didn't care, it was my writing chair and I loved it.

Ok this was my husband Mercury Man's chair for his desk at school. He's a teacher and was at a school last year that had old, busted furniture, so he bought a comfortable chair. He bought it home for the summer and I've been using it. It's soooooo comfy, my word. He's at a new school this year and they have ok furniture, so he hasn't been pressed to take his chair in. Even if he was, it's my chair now! ha ha Mercury Man!

I decided to retire my old writing chair. I can't go back to it now after a summer of this, I tried. But still, I'm gonna miss that chair.

Trula's Old Chair Getting Kicked to the Curb September 2007

We have had this chair since t-bop was a baby so going on 10 years. This chair supported me through numerous projects...I wrote 7 books in this chair, often times with a sleeping or sick child on my lap or draped over my shoulder.

Here it is on the curb, waiting to be picked up by the garbage collectors. I watched it all morning from the porch. Someone came and picked it up, right when I was thinking I should try to make something out of it. That makes me happy that it will have a second life somewhere.

Music

Mama Songs CD

I am a writer, not a singer or musician, but this is a project that is very close to my heart because it sprung out of love for my children. Mama Songs is a collection of songs I wrote and sang to my children when they were small. I think your kids will like them too.
